                                                       Jury Duty Policy

 Authority and Purpose:

The Selectboard of the Town of Danville hereby adopts the following policy, for all full time elected and appointed officials and employees of the Town of Danville,

The purpose of this policy is to define the amount of payment that the Town will be responsible for when a full time employee or official is selected to appear for jury duty.

It is the general consensus of the Selectboard that it is the civic duty of all citizens to serve as a juror if so selected by the court.

To insure that a full time official or employee does not have to lose income by serving on a jury, the Town will make up the difference of between their regular time wages and the remuneration received from the court. If the assignment is only for a partial day, it will be expected that the person will work for the remainder of the day.

If any section of this policy is held to be invalid, such finding shall not invalidate any other part of this policy.

This policy shall become effective Sept 18, 2003.
