Selectwoman Marion E. Sevigny of Danville passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center at the age of 87.

She was born in Danville on March 12, 1922, to Howard and Alice Calkins. She was a graduate of Danville High School and Champlain College.

After she married Paul, she spent the first 24 years of their marriage supporting her husband throughout the world in the military. She was very active civically wherever she lived. Upon retirement from the military, the Sevignys returned home to Danville and were the proprietors of the Diamond Hill Cabins for 15 years. She remained a member of the glider pilots auxiliary throughout her life.

Marion was a loyal and dedicated employee for Mr. Bruce Corrette. She worked for him for over 40 years, starting at Smith, Batchelder, & Rugg and continuing with that firm which is now Corrette and Associates.

The Town of Danville meant a great deal to both Marion and Paul; the preservation of their community was always important to them. She had a civic hand in many Danville affairs, serving on the Danville Historical Society, as a Danville selectperson, on its zoning board and the cemetery commission. She was past president of the Pope Memorial Library, member of the Danville United Methodist Church, and the Diamond Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was past president of the not only the St. Johnsbury Business and Professional Women's' club, but also served state-wide as President. She was a NVRH corporator and volunteered with the hospital auxiliary. She also served the Red Cross and Girl scouts over the years. She was active in the Republican Party.

She was predeceased in death by her husband Paul and her brother Leland Calkins.
