Town Ordinances Policies, and Bylaws
Animal Control Ordinance Pursuant to Title 23 V.S.A sections 1007 & 1008 and also Title 20 V.S.A. { 3549 and V.S.A.. {2291(10) and {1973 (e) the following ordinance is promulgated in order to regulate the keeping of domestic pets and wolf-hybrids in the town of Danville. SNOWMOBILE and ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the health and safety of operators of snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles and of the residents of the Town and to protect the animals, property and environment of the Town. Open Burning Revised OrdinancePursuant to authority granted by 24 V.S.A. § 1971, the following ordinance is promulgated in order to regulate the use of open fires to ensure the public’s health, safety and welfare and to provide for the ability to collect penalties when this ordinance is violated. The Danville Selectboard revised the Town Ordinance Regulating Open Burning at their meeting on May 20th, 2010. The purpose of the revisions was to eliminate open burning with the exception of small camp fires, in the Village Core District and the Historic District in Danville Green Village, and the old Design Control areas in West Danville and North Danville. The revisions are to protect nearby residents in closely populated areas of town from neighborhood smoke and fire. The revisions will take effect on July 19th, unless a petition signed by five percent of the voters of Danville is filed with Town Clerk Wendy Somers by July 3rd 2010 asking for a vote to disapprove the revisions to the ordinance. Speed Limits on Unpaved Highways This ordinance is adopted under authority granted by 24 V.S.A. § 2291(4) and 23 V.S.A. § 1007 to regulate speed limits on town highways. The purpose of this ordinance is to promote public health and safety by establishing safe speed limits on all unpaved town highways in the Town of Danville. Relating to the Protection of Town Roads during Log Harvest This ordinance is adopted Pursuant to 19 V.S.A. 304, 24 V.S.A. 2291, and 19 V.S.A. 1111 for the purpose of to protect the Town roads and the Town roads rights-of-way. Any person conducting a wood harvest shall not use Town roads and Town right-of-ways for log or lumber yard, landing, loading, or skid-ways. Town Highway Right of Way Policy The Selectboard of the Town of Danville, Vermont hereby create the following Town Highway Right of Way Policy. Under 19 V.S.A. Section 1111, Selectboards have the right to regulate Town Highway Rights of Way, and under Sub Section (b) Selectboards may make rules to protect and promote the safety of the traveling public. The Statute further requires that a permit must be obtained by anyone or any corporation prior to development, landscaping, buildings, fences, or other structures or obstructions be placed in the Town Highway Right of Way. Conflict of Interest Policy The purpose of this policy is to insure that the business of this Town will be conducted in such a manner that no public official of the Town will gain a personal or pecuniary advantage from his or her work for the Town and so that the public trust in municipal officials will be preserved. Flood Hazard Bylaw These regulations shall apply in all areas in the Town of Danville identified as areas of special flood hazard on the National Flood Insurance Program maps which are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be part of these regulations. Private Snow Removal PolicyThe purpose of this policy is to protect the Town roads with in the Town of Danville and prevent snow removal practice that results in snow encroaching on the highway right-of-way, thereby creating a safety hazard for the traveling public.Please click on the button on the left to read the entire policy.
Jury Duty Policy The purpose of this policy is to define the amount of payment that the Town will be responsible for when a full time employee or official is selected to appear for jury duty. Please click on the button on the left to read the entire policy.
Public Alcoholic Beverage Consumption It shall be illegal to consume any alcoholic beverages in a common area open to the public in the town. Please click on the button on the left to read the entire policy.
Wood Dump Shooting Ordinance The purpose of this ordinance is to allow in season hunting activities in the Town Forest, while protecting the health and safety of the residents of the Town; residents whose property borders on or near the wood dump, the traveling public on town highway # SA#002, and the users of the wood dump.
